All about the Minte

First things first:
High Thread Count
The Minte duvet cover is made from 100% cotton satin and has a high thread count of 300 TC. What is a thread count? First, let's start with explaining the following. Duvet covers are usually made from woven fabrics. In a weave, two different sets of yarn or threads are crossed over each other. The vertical thread is the 'warp' and the horizontal thread that is woven through it is the 'weft' (see image below). The way in which the threads cross each other determines the weave and therefore also the quality of the fabric.
Now that you know how a duvet cover is woven, understanding the thread count is easy. The term thread count refers to how many threads there are in a square inch. The number of threads in the chain and the weft are added together and the total is the thread count. The higher the number, the softer and finer the fabric. Want to know more? Satin Weave
The Minte fabric is a satin weave. A satin weave is different from a normal flat weave, because the horizontal thread is woven at least 1 time under and 4 times over the vertical thread (see image below). This creates the shiny and soft feel of cotton satin. This is one of the special features of the Minte fabric.
Finishing touch: Enzyme Wash & Double Stitching
An enzyme wash is a washing process in which enzymes are used to soften the fabric, this gives the fabric a casual look and feel. This is an environmentally friendly washing process due to the natural origin of enzymes and is considered more sustainable than stone washing, because water use is handled more efficiently. As a finishing touch, the duvet cover is finished with a double stitch, which gives a lovely subtle edging all around. At the bottom of the duvet cover there is a generous tuck-in strip of 40 centimetres. So, no more cold feet!
